Through the Garden Gate

Hello everyone,
Come on in and we can take a stroll through the early September garden.

There is still lots to see, but some plants are looking a wee bit tired.
Now, if you are a bit tired too, take a few minutes to relax and enjoy the view. This hammock overlooks the allee garden but also our new pond.
Do you notice any changes since the last time you were here? The phlox is blooming but the structure joining the arbors has been removed as it was partially blocking the view of the pond from the kitchen window so, Andrew took it down and will use it elsewhere, We are also going to change the allee garden a bit to lead the eye down to the pond. We have been planting some trees and shrubs around the pond too, so in a year or two hopefully it looks like it was always there.
These photos where taken last week so you can see that phlox is a big part of the late summer garden along with hydrangea and daylilies.
Hostas give good all season color and are easy care.
Martha's Garden is taking on a more fallish look.

The Jackmanni clematis is still putting on a good show here,in other parts of the garden it is pretty much past.
The Annabelle hydrangea is always a good performer here in our garden.

I love the romantic look of drifts of different phlox throughout the garden.

This is the bed along the road coming into our garden.Andrew rebuilt the fence this year.

Back to the allee garden.

The  garden in front of our house coming to the door-it has an arbor into it and another one going out with a picket fence joining them-also built by Andrew several years ago now.

I love this varigated phlox as it lights up the garden all season.

An old birdhouse Andrew made for my birthday several years ago and I still love it.
I have some close up shots of the garden I hope to share soon. My three daughters and I are going to Maine for some shopping etc. and we are really looking forward to it. We will be gone for a few days so I will see you when we get back.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Carolyn
